'I believe that as equestrians we feel as passionate about our horses surroundings as we do about our own homes! Every detail matters, with the safety and comfort of your horse being paramount. This is the reason i personally oversee and manage every project Equine Construction undertakes.'
David Johnson, Managing Director & Owner of Equine Construction
This beautiful project, designed by our sister company Equine Planning is now in its final stages with powder coated stables, arched windows and doors all installed.
The wall lights and bespoke stable post lighting is still in progress and the flexscreed floor is ready to be poured.
The fit out of tack rooms and luxurious riders lounge will follow shortly.
We have constructed the building with double glazed gables, a composite roof with a light ventilated ridge and plenty of glazed doors and windows to give a natural light and airy feel along with the all important ventilation.
We have also been carrying out extensive renovations to the indoor arena, this includes a new composite roof and light ventilated ridge, double glazing along both long sides which gives maximum natural light and a new riding surface along with re-cladding the exterior and rendering and painting the block work to match the stable yard.
We have also constructed 4 all weather turn out pens and a bespoke timber lunge arena along with pathways from the stable yard to the amenities.
100 x 15m American Barn sectioned into 3 beautiful yards, each with its own facilities and a large bespoke central riders lounge.
Equine Construction are thrilled to have been awarded the contract to renovate an existing 115 metre long barn and transform it into what will be one of the most beautiful livery yards in the Cotswolds.
We began by stripping the barn back to its steel framework. All roof sheets were removed and the steels all professionally cleaned.
We then removed 3 bays from the building and the roof has been replaced with an Anthracite grey composite roof with clear sheets located over each stable to allow for maximum natural light.
The building is of block cavity construction and will be rendered externally and internally. with beautiful Cotswold Stone detailing of the arched doors, windows and a plinth at the base of the building.
Internally there are 3 separate sections, each with its own tack room, feed room, wash bays and solaria and the central section which contains a large luxurious riders lounge, tack room, office and shower and W/C block that sits within a beautiful arched corridor.
The horse areas are to be fitted with 26 powder coated Monarch Victorian stables with bespoke arched and powder coated windows to match the stables.
Equine Planning have carried out all design work and the build is currently underway with the roof and much of the extensive blockwork now complete.
This beautiful project comprises a 62 x 22m indoor arena with a composite roof and a bespoke 12 box stable yard of block and brick construction with a clay tiled roof and a courtyard laid with block pavers with a walk way directly into the arena.
We designed the stable yard using brick piers and internal stable fronts and partitions to keep the stables light and airy whilst keeping a very traditional look.
Comprising 3 American barns and 38 internal stables, Equine Construction have recently completed this stunning polo yard set in the beautiful Surrey countryside.
The 3 steel framed American barns are of a block construction with timber cladding set on a brick plinth with composite roofs and the main barn has a light ventilated ridge.
Internally containing 38 Hau stables, tack rooms, feed rooms and all associated facilities.
Equine construction have built a 20 m x 40m indoor arena complete with a viewing gallery, lecture room and 4 stables incorporated.
The building is clad in Castle boarding and incorporates an extra bay in which we constructed 4 stables and a viewing gallery/lecture room.
Within the arena we constructed a concrete plinth and used grey PVC sloping kick boards. Clear PVC sheets were used in the roof, beneath the eaves and in the gable end to maximise natural light.
This project was for Sparrow Oast Dressage training and livery centre.
Despite the wettest winter on record and challenging logistical issues we have now completed the new stud with all the horses moving into their new stables at the beginning of June.
Equine Construction built an American barn measuring 49 x 12.6 metres incorporating 15 Monarch stables, Tack room, Staff area Vet area plus storage. The steel framed barn is constructed in blocks with Scandinavian Redwood cladding with a composite roof with a light ventilated ridge running full length of the building.
We also built a Steel framed young stock barn measuring 6 x 30 metres constructed in blocks with Castle board cladding. This barn is open fronted to allow plenty of ventilation for the foals and yearlings.
Other aspects of this project included a Lunge arena. Fully boarding a 60 x 20m arena, preparation of road ways and parking areas for Tarmac and other associated works.
Equine construction developed a CUSTOM built new 14m Lunge Arena out of timber to blend into the existing woodland surroundings.

We have now completed the major refurbishment of a large stud & competition yard in Berkshire. The work involved the total replacement of the roof for all stabling areas, indoor arena and staff quarters.
Equine construction were recommended to build a new 30 box Equestrian Establishment at Lambourn, helping to plan and build a large scale equestrian project for a leading trainer.
The project involved:
• All groundworks, drainage, concreting, along with
• Laying approximately 40,000 bricks and blocks.
• Retaining walls to hold back the hillside.
• Creating office, car parking and walkways.
• Preparing area for horse walker and lunging arena installation.
• Preparation for the installation of 30 Rower and Rub internal stables.
While it is easier to build an outdoor arena on level ground, with our expertise in groundworks anything is possible.
This arena was built on a steep hill and extensive cut and fill leveling and additional drainage was required.
Phase 2 of this project is a new 4 box stable yard with feed room, tack room and hay store.
Phase 1 of this project for a private client in Kent was to build a new 60m x 20m outdoor arena, construction of a new roadway and the groundworks for a new steel framed storage barn.
Phase 2 of this projects starting in July is the demolition of existing stable block and the ground works and preparations for a new Scott's of Thrapston stable block.
We are thrilled to have been awarded the contract to build a 60 x 25m outdoor arena and a horse walker base for a private client in Sussex.
This arena has required extensive ground works and we have used in excess of 1000 tons of material to bring up the levels.
Phase 2 of this project will commence in March to build a unique bespoke American barn and internal stables.
We are thrilled to have been awarded the contract to carry out work for Avon and Somerset Constabulary Mounted Division in North Somerset.

Equine Construction are renovated an existing barn with extensive groundworks to provide an 18 box yard for an up-and-coming young dressage rider.
In conjunction with Monarch Equestrian we installed 18 integral stables, a tack room, Feed room and wash down area.
The existing barn had a number of block built stables built on a concrete floor that sloped from one end to the other by 750mm. The renovation required all the existing stables and internal walls to be demolished, hardcore and crushed concrete to be laid to build up the levels before laying 75m of concrete to create a new level floor. A new inner skin was created in 100mm concrete blocks to strengthen the existing timber structure along with galvanised windows built in to allow extra light and ventilation to each new stable.
Before > demolition of old stables
After > leveled and concreted
Equine Construction were recommended by Monarch Equestrian services to a top thoroughbred racehorse stud to install a 16 m diameter lunging arena along with a Monarch Sovereign horse walker and all associated preparation and ground works. Another aspect of this project is to renovate an existing barn to incorporate 7 new internal Monarch stables with associated works.
